Yellow Umbrella Tours are a local, independent, free walking tour company in Dublin City.
Dublin Free Walking Tours took on a comprehensive rebranding mission, striving to forge a distinct identity within their industry. At the heart of their distinctiveness lies the iconic yellow umbrellas, a ubiquitous symbol carried by every tour guide, and a central element of their promotional efforts. This resulted in the birth of Yellow Umbrella Tours.
Logo
I was tasked with the creation of a logo that seamlessly merged the tour highlights of Dublin City with the emblematic yellow umbrella.
The central element of this design was to feature The Spire, which serves as the focal rendezvous and start location for all of the guided tours.
Brochure & Leaflets
The primary objective of the leaflets remained consistent throughout each iteration: to present tour information and details in a clear, concise, and linear manner, all the while encapsulating the distinctive theme of each tour.
Each tour's theme was derived from its unique inspiration, whether it be the charming Georgian doors of Dublin's south side, the renowned Victorian red brick houses of the north side, the rustic ambience of a traditional Dublin pub, or the grandeur of Belfast's City Hall.
For the comprehensive 8-panel brochure, it was important to accommodate both English and Spanish-speaking audiences. To facilitate ease of navigation, we devised a colour-coded system using blue and red, accompanied by respective national flags in the top right corner of each panel. These distinctive colours immediately resonate with the reader upon initial contact with the brochure, establishing an immediate association with each language.
In addition to the main brochure, we designed single-panel leaflets specifically intended for distribution to participants already engaged in the more popular walking tours. These single-panel leaflets served as a means to introduce new tour offerings, aiming to pique interest and encourage further participation.
Website
For the website, I collaborated closely with a web developer to transform our vision into reality.
Our primary objective was to design a website that presented tour details with clarity, ensuring that users could access information about each tour seamlessly and without frustration.
To achieve this, we adopted a minimalist design approach, focusing on the presentation of clear information and a user-friendly experience. With this vision in mind, we chose to implement a clean Bootstrap layout that allows users to access crucial information effortlessly, all on a single page, guiding them step by step with intuitive buttons.
When a user selects a tour, we employed a pop-up window to display the tour's details. This approach enabled us to maintain the minimalist, one-page layout while remaining faithful to the original directive of delivering clear, user-friendly, and fast-tracked tour information.
